The Fundación de Oncología Infantil Enriqueta Villavecchia has been working for 30 years to help children and young people suffering from cancer and to offer support to their families throughout the disease process.
Among its mainprograms highlights the social attention to families, through housing for families displaced because of the illness of their son or daughter and financial assistance for families with difficulties, as well as support in social work.
One of its most consolidated lines of work is the organization of activities, outings and trips for children and young people in treatment, which includes, among other proposals, a week of skiing in Andorra for 40 children, trips to Eurodisney, camps in Ireland and Italy, trips to Port Aventura and rural tourism weekends for families.
Annually, it provides care to 450 families in its different lines of work. A specific program is also developed for young people who have overcome cancer in childhood and need help to resume their activity, social relations and personal autonomy, and to achieve their personal development. psychosocial integration.
All this work is carried out thanks to the unconditional support from volunteers, who help the organization in all areas, provide play and company to sick children and facilitate moments of rest for their families.
The The Foundation always works in coordination with five referral hospitals, The company helps them by donating materials, setting up facilities, and supporting the training and specialization of physicians in the field of medical oncology and pediatric hematology, with the awarding of training scholarships for physicians.
