The lawyer and writer Manuel Medina presented his latest book “The crisis can wait, life can’t.” supported by a significant representation of the legal, business, political and sports sectors of our country.

More than four hundred and fifty people filled the halls of the InterContinental Hotel Madrid in a heartfelt event in which the author was accompanied at the presidential table by Alberto Núñez Feijóo, president of the Xunta de Galicia, Jaime Lamo de Espinosa, author of the book's prologue and emeritus professor at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and David Trías, literary director of Plaza & Janés.

The attendees listened attentively to the words of the guests, who agreed in highlighting the figure of Manuel Medina As a great lawyer, a friend to his friends and capable of bringing together in one room all the branches of justice, politics, unions, businesses and the country's financial sector, in addition to the presence of the presidents of Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid, Florentino Pérez and Enrique Cerezo. All this without losing its simplicity, generosity, hope and loyalty.

Manuel Medina In this book, he reflects on the crisis from a different point of view optimistic and invites us to reflect on the time that takes place during the same. The author breaks down the different types of crisis: the values, plagued by a lack of affection; that of the family, urged by urban life, the rush and the coldness of communications; that of identity, known as 'the three D's': unemployment, despair and disillusionment; the policy, a product of corruption; social, which has caused great poverty and inequality; banking and finally, the crisis economic.

Manuel Medina He has always maintained his eagerness to learn and his vocation to serve the less fortunate. In this book, he recounts the daily life of those who wake up very early in the morning, set the country in motion, and work with the hope of continuing to do so every morning. Whether as a day laborer, police officer, banker, or lawyer, his unique career stands as a vindication of ordinary people and values such as hard work.

The act

After the presentation of David Trías, welcoming the attendees and giving a brief introduction about the book's publisher, it was the turn of Jaime Lamo de Espinosa, author of the prologue, which explained the meaning of the book Manuel Medina “the antithesis between happiness and crisis in life, with a hymn to optimism and hope.”

The president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, He began his speech by alluding to the fact that it is the third book of Manuel Medina in which he participated and later put the life and work of this writer as a valid and sincere example to get out of the situation in which our country found itself: "the economic crisis is overcome by working, in the same way as Manolo Medina It came from a small farmhouse in a remote part of Villanueva del Arzobispo. "You can only overcome adversity by working, and that's why many Spaniards can identify with this book, written from the heart, and also as a reference in the face of the economic crisis."

Alberto Núñez Feijóo He dedicated praise to Manuel Medina During his speech, and making a play on words with the book's title, he said: "When I became president of Galicia in 2009, we found ourselves in a difficult situation. The crisis couldn't wait, but life could."

"The crisis has been very good for Spain and its politicians, because it has allowed them to do things right and correct the mistakes made in the past," he added, adding that "the rescission that began in 2008 has served to put an end to the speculative economy, that hot economy with feet of clay."

The author, Manuel Medina, He began his speech, excitedly explaining why he wrote this book, “I was inspired by a newspaper delivery boy I saw every morning. In my latest work, I also write about the people who take the train every day to go to work and, with their desire and spirit, contribute to getting out of the deep crisis that has affected our country. 'Good makes no noise, and noise makes no good,' a phrase from my friend Isidro Fainé that has always accompanied me throughout my life.”

“The identity crisis that affects people, the economic crisis, the uncertainty that accompanies you, the fear of failure, that crisis that, although it doesn't manifest itself, is experienced and felt on your face.”
